If rumors are to be believed, then Samsung could be launching three variants of the Samsung Galaxy S10 next year. This will most likely consist of two premium variants, that are said to be the successors of the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+, and an affordable version of the Galaxy S10. Earlier reports have suggested the smartphone will come with a 5.8-inch flat Infinity display. Now, to further cut cost, Samsung could equip the smartphone with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Based on a report from SamMobile, Samsung will be relocating the fingerprint sensor from the back to the side on the entry-level Galaxy S10. The company will most likely be taking this route in order to cut down on cost. It’s also not the first time we’ll be seeing a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Companies like Sony, Motorola and Huawei Honor all have handsets that carry the fingerprint sensor on the side.

Besides that, the other two other variants of the Galaxy S10 are said to be the first phones from Samsung to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. So not opting for the fancy feature in the affordable variant makes sense, as it allows Samsung to price the smartphone more competitively.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10+ are rumored to come with 6.2-inch and 6.44-inch curved Infinity Displays, respectively. While specifications haven’t been revealed yet, the Galaxy S10+ is touted to come with a triple camera setup, just like the Huawei P20 Pro. While it’s too early to confirm the news, it’ll be interesting to see Samsung that route. A recent rumor has also suggested that Samsung might plan to launch the Galaxy S10 at MWC 2019, after unveiling its much-anticipated Galaxy X foldable smartphone at CES 2019.
