Huawei’s next smartphone under its Honor brand will likely be the Honor 9 Lite with four cameras. The Honor 9 Lite leaked in the form of images first and has now made its way through TENAA revealing its key specifications.

The Honor 9 Lite, as the name implies, will be a budget smartphone that will serve as an alternative to Mate 10 Lite from the Huawei camp. The TENAA listing suggests it will sport a 5.65-inch LCD display with Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and support for the taller 18:9 aspect ratio. Huawei has been vocal that Full HD+ is an apt resolution for the new taller aspect ratio.

The listing also indicates that the Honor 9 Lite will be offered in two storage options: 3GB RAM variants with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM variant with 64GB internal storage. Powering the device will be the octa-core Kirin 659 chipset also found on the recently launched Honor 7X.

The main selling point of Honor 9 Lite is expected to be the two dual-camera setups. The TENAA listing says the front as well as the rear will feature a combination of 13MP + 2MP dual camera system with support for 1080p video recording. Earlier rumours suggested that the handset will feature a 20MP + 2MP dual camera setup. It’s worth noting that the Honor 9i was the first smartphone to feature four cameras and Huawei seems to be bringing the setup to more smartphones.

The handset will be 7.6mm thick and run EMUI based on Android 8.0 Oreo. The Honor 9 Lite will be supported by a 2,900mAh battery and use microUSB port for charging. Other details include support for microSD card slot and 3.5mm audio jack. The only missing puzzle is the price.

Huawei, the leading smartphone maker in China and the third largest smartphone brand globally, has been trying to compete with Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo with its Honor brand. With the launch of Honor 9 Lite, it will have a bigger range of devices with taller displays than its peers. The company has sent out media invites for a December 21 event in China where it is anticipated to officially announce the Honor 9 Lite.
